Best Wishes from Hon. Governor
It is with immense pride and deep appreciation that I extend my warmest blessings and best wishes to the Ministry of Education, Uva Province, for launching the visionary initiative “ඌව ප්රඥා උදානය / ஊவாவில் ஞானத்தின் விடியல் / The Dawn of Wisdom in Uva.” This project stands as a beacon of progress, unity, and innovation — guiding our province toward a new era of educational excellence and sustainable human development.
The Uva Province, enriched by its proud history and natural beauty, has always been home to resilient, intelligent, and compassionate people. As we enter a transformative phase under the new policies of the Government of Sri Lanka, our focus is clear — to upgrade the human capital of Uva Province through equitable, quality, and future-ready education. This aligns perfectly with the national vision for a Clean, Green, and Smart Sri Lanka, which emphasizes environmental sustainability, social harmony, and economic empowerment.
The “Dawn of Wisdom in Uva” project exemplifies this vision by integrating modern education reforms, STREAM and AI-based learning, and teacher capacity development to nurture globally competent, environmentally responsible, and ethically grounded citizens. Through this initiative, education becomes more than the transmission of knowledge — it becomes a catalyst for innovation, character development, and sustainable prosperity.
In today’s interconnected world, international collaboration is no longer a choice, but a necessity. The partnership between the Uva Provincial Education Department, the International Association for Quality Education (IAQE), and global universities reflects our commitment to building bridges of learning across nations. This collaboration brings global expertise, modern pedagogies, and technology-enabled practices into our classrooms — empowering both teachers and students to think critically, create boldly, and act compassionately.
As we move toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education, this initiative symbolizes our collective determination to make Uva a model province for educational innovation and sustainable human capital development. It reinforces our belief that when we invest in the minds and hearts of our children, we invest in the long-term peace, prosperity, and moral strength of our nation.
I extend my sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Education, the Provincial Department of Education, school leaders, teachers, parents, and international partners whose dedication and collaboration make this transformative journey possible. Together, let us make Uva shine as a province of wisdom, innovation, and sustainability — where every child is empowered to learn, lead, and contribute to a cleaner, smarter, and more compassionate Sri Lanka.
May this noble initiative flourish and inspire the entire nation.
Hon. J. M. Kapila Jayasekara
Governor
Uva Province, Sri Lanka
Best Wishes from Chief Secretary
It is with great pleasure and heartfelt encouragement that I extend my warmest wishes to the Ministry of Education, Uva Province, for initiating the transformative project “ඌව ප්රඥා උදානය / ஊவாவில் ஞானத்தின் விடியல் / The Dawn of Wisdom in Uva.” This timely initiative reflects a progressive step toward nurturing a generation of balanced, compassionate, and globally competent young citizens.
As the Chief Secretary of Uva Province, I am deeply encouraged to see education being shaped not only to produce knowledgeable learners, but well-rounded human beings with inner strength, emotional intelligence, spiritual well-being, and noble human values. True education must cultivate the mind, heart, and character of a child — enabling them to face life with clarity, resilience, peace, and purpose. In a world that is increasingly fast-moving, complex, and competitive, the practice of mindfulness and value-based education is essential to form children who are grounded, calm, empathetic, and self-aware.
This initiative beautifully aligns with this vision by integrating mindfulness, well-being practices, and character education alongside STREAM, AI, and 21st-century learning approaches. It recognizes that while modern skills are essential for future success, the foundation of a truly successful life lies in good values, humility, discipline, emotional balance, and spiritual growth.
The “Dawn of Wisdom in Uva” further brings enormous strength through international collaboration and the sharing of global best practices. The partnership with the International Association for Quality Education (IAQE) and esteemed global education experts enables our teachers, school leaders, and students to learn from diverse cultures, innovative teaching models, and proven strategies that have transformed education across the world. Exposure to international knowledge will empower our educators to bring global standards into local classrooms, creating an inspiring and joyful learning experience for every child.
I firmly believe that the path to a peaceful and progressive society begins in the classroom. If we nurture our children to think critically, act kindly, respect diversity, protect nature, and stay rooted in values, we shape a future generation that will lead with wisdom, compassion, and dignity. This project embodies that noble aspiration.
I extend my sincere appreciation to all educators, administrators, parents, and international partners who have joined hands to make this initiative a success. May this project become a model of excellence, harmony, and innovation for the entire country.
May the light of wisdom guide our children toward a future filled with peace, purpose, and global excellence.

Mr. Nihal Gunarathne

Ministry of Education
Uva Province, Sri Lanka
Best Wishes from Provincial Director of Education
It is with great pride and heartfelt pleasure that I extend my best wishes to this remarkable educational initiative, which aims to uplift and empower the students of the Uva Province to become globally competent future leaders.
Uva Province holds a glorious and inspiring history in Sri Lanka’s freedom struggle. It is the land that produced brave national heroes who rose fearlessly against colonial rule during the Great Uva Rebellion of 1818, earning for our nation a legacy of courage, patriotism, and dignity. Our soil is enriched with ancient heritage, cultural values, and a long-standing tradition of wisdom, spirituality, and resilience.
Uva is also blessed with exceptional natural beauty—from the mist-laden mountains of Bandarawela and Haputale, to the lush greenery of Badulla, cascading waterfalls, and rich biodiversity that attracts local and international admiration. This unique environment nurtures creativity, innovation, and a deep sense of harmony with nature among our children.
Throughout history, our province has produced multi-talented individuals excelling in education, sports, arts, culture, leadership, and nation-building. The children of Uva continue to demonstrate extraordinary potential, creativity, and discipline when provided with the right guidance, opportunities, and supportive learning environments.
In the 21st century, it is essential to provide our children with international exposure in education—to broaden their worldview, sharpen their global competencies, and prepare them to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Through global partnerships, modern pedagogy, technology-enabled learning, STEAM and language-based skills, entrepreneurship, and values-based education, we must equip our students to become innovative thinkers, responsible citizens, and visionary leaders.
As we move forward, let us pledge to reawaken the spirit of our ancestors by empowering our children with world-class knowledge, global experiences, and moral values—so that they may rise once again as national heroes who contribute with excellence to Sri Lanka and to the world.
I extend my sincere appreciation to all educators, administrators, parents, and partners who are committed to building a brighter and more internationally connected future for the children of Uva Province. May this initiative inspire excellence, ignite dreams, and create pathways for our young generation to shine on global platforms.
I convey my warm blessings and best wishes for the success of this meaningful endeavour.

Best Wishes from Project Leader
It is with great enthusiasm and a deep sense of responsibility that I extend my heartfelt best wishes for the successful implementation of the “Dawn of Wisdom in Uva” initiative. This transformative journey marks a significant milestone in redefining the education landscape of the Uva Province and shaping a future-ready generation of learners equipped with wisdom, innovation, and global competencies.
In today’s rapidly advancing world, the role of educators has evolved far beyond traditional teaching. To provide meaningful and relevant learning experiences to our children, teachers and principals must continuously update their knowledge, skills, and professional competencies. The success of educational reforms depends largely on the commitment of our educators to embrace change, adopt modern methodologies, and align with global best practices. I kindly encourage every teacher, principal, and education leader in the Uva Province to take this transformation as both an opportunity and a personal mission of growth.
The integration of international collaboration through this project brings immense value to our education system. Our partnership with the International Association for Quality Education (IAQE) and globally recognized education experts will introduce global standards, innovative pedagogies, STREAM education, digital learning advancements, and AI-driven approaches tailored to uplift the quality of education in our province. Through exposure to international perspectives, research, and professional development, our educators will gain the confidence and competence needed to lead the educational reforms of Sri Lanka with excellence.
As we prepare to implement the Sri Lanka Education Reforms 2026, it is essential that Uva Province becomes a role model and pioneer in applying globally accepted educational standards, modern teaching strategies, and evidence-based classroom practices. With dedication, collaboration, and the right mindset, we can turn this reform into a truly impactful change that benefits every learner — from early childhood to vocational and general education streams.
I firmly believe that motivated, well-trained, and globally aware educators are the backbone of a strong education system. Let us embrace this initiative with passion, curiosity, and a shared vision to uplift the educational excellence of the Uva Province. Together, we can build a learning culture that values continuous growth, innovation, and professional mastery.
As the Project Leader, I extend my sincere best wishes to all educators, institutions, and stakeholders. May this initiative illuminate the path towards a more enlightened, empowered, and internationally competitive Uva Province.
