First Day of the International Conference on Quality Education at Sri Lanka Foundation, Colombo, Sr Lanka on September 30th, 2023. Former President H.E. Mathripala Sirisena Participated as chief Guest.

Second Day of the International Conference on Quality Education at Sri Lanka Institute of Development and Administration (SLIDA), Colombo, Sr Lanka on October 01st, 2023. Mrs. Thilaka Jayasundara, Secretary, Ministry of Industry Participated as chief Guest.

Third Day of the International Conference on Quality Education was held at the Mahinda Rajapaksha Collede, Homagama, Colombo on October 02nd, 2023. World’s Children day was celebrated at the school by foreign delegates and school children together in addition to formal discussion.   

End of the conference all foreign delegates participated to hill country tour to see beauty of sri lanka. while the tour delegates participated some functions which was organized by ECCD Centers/Schools.

SDGs for Quality Education”

01. Introduction

The International Conference on Quality Education 2023 is organized by the International Association for Quality Education (IAfQE), which is an international non-profit education association working to upgrade the quality of education to achieve Sustainable Development Goal No. 4: Quality Education in 2030.

The conference will be focused on new trends in education, the latest pedagogical approaches, assessments and evaluation methods, as well as new approaches in school management and capacity building for teachers and professionals in education.

Individuals have to face the volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and Ambiguity (VUCA) situation of the present global society. It will be emphasized the ways to develop skills essential to the 21st century as well as the mindfulness of the individual to be a skillful and spiritually well-being person to overcome the competitiveness of the global society. The conference will be a platform to discuss new strategies, research findings, and best practices to identify new frameworks for that.

“Greening Education” aims to deliver strong, coordinated, and comprehensive action that will prepare every learner to acquire the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to tackle climate change and promote sustainable development. The implementation of the greening education concept in the school system will also be discussed at the conference.

Keynote speakers will share their best practices, research findings, and new knowledge on different kinds of themes related to quality education.

In addition to that, the performance of the schools will be evaluated under the identified key performance criteria. Selected schools will be recognized for their excellence.

School visits, honouring ceremonies, and cultural programs have also been scheduled to make the conference colourful.

The conference is an international benchmark for global leaders in education to make international networks and work collaboratively to empower their schools and institutes with standards of quality education.

The conference will be held physically from September 29th to October 4th, 2023, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with the participation of educators in the South Asian Region as well as other Countries.

Awards will be granted by the Prime minister of Sri Lanka or the Minister of Education of Sri Lanka.

The Conference is limited to 100 educators, and selections will be made based on early registrations, qualifications, and experience.

02. Problem Statement

  • Existing curriculums, Teaching-learning processes, and assessment and evaluation methodologies in schools still don’t give more priority to developing knowledge, skills, attitudes, and mindsets (K-SAM) in children to overcome a competitive global society.
  • Curriculums, teaching-learning processes, and assessment and evaluation methodologies in schools are not being rapidly developed to be compatible with fast-moving global needs such as education for employability.
  • A huge gap exists between the expected outcome of the children in the school system by the universities and vocational education institutes and the real product of the school system.
  • Traditional teacher training mechanisms are out-of-date, and those mechanisms have no capacity to develop quality teachers to upgrade the skillfulness and mindfulness of children.
  • Opportunities are limited for individuals and schools to find solutions and new strategies to the above issues and to share research findings and best practices.

03. Vision: 

Upgrade the quality of global education towards skillfulness and mindfulness in children to overcome the challenges of modern society for the sustainability of individuals and global society to achieve the SDGs in 2030.

04. Mission:

Motivate educators, schools, and policymakers to upgrade the quality of school education towards the skillfulness and mindfulness of children to overcome challenges in modern society for the sustainability of individuals, countries and global society by creating and disseminating new knowledge, skills, attitudes, and mindsets and sharing best practices and research findings, honouring the dedicated services of educators and schools.

05. Objectives:

  • Upgrade the quality of school education towards the skillfulness and mindfulness of children to overcome challenges in modern society for the sustainability of individuals, countries and global society.
  • Build up platforms to create and disseminate new knowledge, share best practices and research findings, and to empower knowledge, 21st-century skills, attitudes, and mindsets (K-SAM).
  • Build up networks and connections among educators in global society to overcome challenges in education and to enhance the skillfulness and mindfulness of children for the sustainability of individuals, countries and global society.
  • To honor the dedicated services of educators for new knowledge, research findings, sharing of best practices, and commitment to quality education.
  • to honor the dedicated services of schools for their innovations, best practices, and education leadership.

09. Awards and Certificates will be granted in two categories.

Awards will be granted by the hand of the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka or the Minister of Education of Sri Lanka.

Category: 01

  • “Excellence in Education” awards will be granted to keynote speakers.
  • “Excellence in Education” Awards will be granted to the educators based on the performance of their professional careers.
  • “Excellence in Education” Awards will be granted under the categories of 
    • Academic and Professional Qualification
    • National and International Contribution
    • Publications and knowledge sharing
    • Corporate social responsibilities
    • Creativity in the field of Education
    • Innovations and research findings  
    • 21st century skills 
  • Special awards will be granted to educators based on their performance at the conference.
  • Active Participation Certificates will be granted to all who actively participate at the conference.

Selection criteria for awards under category I

  • Awards will be granted on the basis of performance in the field of education, national and international level contributions to the field of education, academic and professional qualifications, and the performance of the conference.
  • After educators submit applications for conferences under Category I, the applications will be evaluated. If applicants have fulfilled the basic requirements, they will be notified by email to register for the conference.
  • By paying the initial payment (100 USD), the applicants can register for the conference.
  • When individuals submit registration forms, the details of the registration forms will be evaluated to offer the awards under Category I.
  • If needed, a live interview will be conducted with the applicants to clarify or get more details related to their performance.
  • Delegates are evaluated for the awards by evaluating “digital evidence to evaluate your performance in the field of education” in their registration form and based on their performance at the conference.

Selection criteria for awards under category II

  • After the schools submit applications for conferences under Category II, the applications will be evaluated. If schools have fulfilled the basic requirements, they will be informed by email to register for the conference.
  • By paying the initial payment (100 USD), the school can register for the conference. One educator can participate in the conference to represent the school. The school will get participation certificates and mementos at the conference for their participation.
  • When schools submit registration forms, the details of the registration forms will be evaluated to offer the awards under Category II. 60% of the marks will be allocated according to the evaluation process described in the registration form.
  • A school representative will get the opportunity to do a 20-minute presentation on a virtual platform (Zoom) to get 20% marks.
  • For the presentation of the conference, 20% marks will be allocated. According to the total marks, the school will get an award for excellence.

11. Keynote Speakers/ Active Participants

After you apply to participate in the conference, you will get the opportunity to be a keynote speaker, Presenter, Member of Panel Discussion, Resource person in a workshop or active participant based on your academic and professional qualifications. Keynote speakers and presenters will get eight minutes to give keynote speech or presentation at the conference. They will be awarded by the Minister of Education in Sri Lanka.

12. Themes for the Presentations:

Education should be focused on the Sustainability of individuals, countries, and global society. Therefore, the teaching and learning process should be focused on developing the Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, and Mindset (K-SAM) of the children. They must have opportunities to gain skills that are needed in the 21st century for their skillfulness and mindfulness to overcome the competitiveness of global society.

Only 100 delegates will get the opportunity to participate in the conference. Therefore, complete your registration to take advantage of this valuable opportunity. By paying 100 USD, you can register, and the balance can be paid on the first day of the conference.

Airport pick-up on September 29th, local transport, accommodation, meals, cost of mementoes, awards, and certificates, conference fee, and airport drop-off on October 2nd or 4th are included in the registration fee.

 

One Representative from the school is eligible to participate free of charge to the conference. Schools that applied for registration are evaluated under category 2 for awarding.

100 USD needs to be paid to complete registration by the selected individuals and schools (Foreign Delegates)  

Balance can be paid by bank transaction on or before 25th September 2023 or by cash at the conference.
